Lakey is a rare Atlanta area native. However, she grew up moving frequently across the southside suburbs, and remembers well what it's like to be the "new kid;" she holds dear early lessons in how you have to build community from the ground up. During college and her quarter-life crisis of figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up, she ended up in a class that opened the door to city planning and community development, and she's never looked back. Lakey has built a life that includes her husband and daughter, as well as friends she embraces as family. She treasures every day of her "happily ever after," and loves to cook for her extended clan to bring people together over a meal to share food and each other. |
